Sharing the Joy of Eating to Your Heart’s Content

“My husband, Gary,  and I made your heart healthy dinner tonight to rave reviews from our kids — ages 9 and 13.  Well not really rave, but they ate it!  The quinoa was fabulous, the roasted vegetables were very tasty and the salad with the ginger dressing was spectacular! The peach cobbler topped it off — coconut oil and all.  Thank you very much. I appreciate the recipes and your website.” –SBG, Grass Valley, CA.

I love that this young mom was able to come away with real food ideas to nurture her health and that of her family, and at the same time, to derive pleasure from the prep time with her husband. A collaborative effort between HeartMatters and In the Kitchen, the recent Eat to Your Heart’s Content cooking class was a colossal success–we’ll be repeating the class seasonally, with the focus being easy, delicious, fun, and nutritious meals and snack ideas. Yum!

Thank you, Robin!

The best thing I did when I discovered I had Type 2 Diabetes was to call Robin Mallery. She coached me to craft a plan to turn this condition around, and the encouragement to believe that I can.  Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I am managing well, using Robin’s program of small steps, achievable goals, and positive reinforcement.  She’s not only a fountain of knowledge and experience, but a loving teacher and motivator.  For the first time in years, I don’t feel helpless about eating and weight gain.  Thank you, Robin!

The joy you bring to your work is wonderful…

“With you guiding me through the HeartMatters program, I was able to achieve a level of physical fitness that made regular and focused exercise feel more like a natural part of my day. I had slipped into a malaise that meant exercise could be ‘put aside’ for work or other important activities. Getting past this is a subtle but powerful accomplishment.

I really enjoyed playing and exercising with you outdoors (my preferred MO for our time together). The joy you bring to your work is wonderful. This flexibility put a kind of structure into my day that helped me ‘choose’ again – showed me how to take back some control of my schedule for important things like meditation and exercise.  It was also part of my journey of re-learning how to say NO to things. This represents additional forward movement for me.

Thanks Robin – I have really benefited from your work in more ways than just the obvious fitter, leaner, stronger me.”

Robin has made me want to do more for myself…

“When I began to work with Robin as a client, she immediately recognized that my success involved more than treating issues relating to my heart. Her knowledge and caring has given me the opportunity and confidence to improve my overall health and mental outlook for the future. I have received excellent care from many doctors but what may be more important is that Robin has made me want to do more for myself.

When my wife and I first met Robin…

“When my wife and I first met Robin for the intake interview prior to beginning Cardiac Rehab, I was impressed with her energy and enthusiasm for her work. She clearly explained the objectives and components of the program. During my 3-month participation, I noted how well Robin worked with all the varied clients in the program, as well as how she managed the staff. I am a retired manager from the Hewlett-Packard Company. Over the years I have seen all types of managers and leaders in all sorts of roles and situations. At any point in my career I would have been very happy to have worked with Robin on assignment of any magnitude. I am sure she would have succeeded there as she has so obviously succeeded at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.”
